did you allow DISCONNECTs (CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx_DISCONNECT set) ? this is known to show problems on several plattforms. try if you can reproduce the problems with CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C7xx_DISCONNECT disabled.
