Kmail has finally gotten to the point where it doesn't mangle patches, so
long as you remember to shut off the line wrap. And yes, it runs pretty
well under xfce[1] ;-)

[1] The attachment right-click menu fails to come up unless KDE itself has
been started at least once since power up :-/
