SubjectRe: lost interrupts under 2.2.X
Followup: The problem was indeed bad hardware.  My first indication of
trouble was not being able to boot off a cd I'd just created.
Fortunately, it was caught before the drive died entirely and the
computer store was open. I hope no one wasted major brain cells trying
to figure this out.
