Hi, all I also have this problem with 2.2.{4,5} under heavy disk IO; most notably when doing a 'make' and starting X (3.3.3). My machine will also no longer reboot with a 'shutdown -r ....' (also 2.2.{4,5}) It gets all the processes killed and disks unmounted and hangs at "Restarting". Could be a feature. :)
Kernel-2.2.[4,5], egcs-1.1.2, glibc-2.1.1, binutils-.....19a, AMD486+.
