Been getting two or three hard lockups per week lately in 2.0.27 and .28, usually with little or no warning (nor any log messages). All seem to occur during heavy access to an external 4GB SCSI disk that I have hanging off of an Adaptec 2940 controller.
Last night's lockup was nice in that I got lots of advance warning and logging information from it. (I'm working on development of an astronomical software package here [AIPS++] that takes 24-30 hours to compile; I started the compile around noon on the 26th, and the kernel stack corruptions started almost immediately. The lockup was ~24 hours later.) System is Red Hat 4.0 (with appropriate update patches), kernel 2.0.28 in this latest case. Any other info. anyone might want/need can of course be provided....
