When trying to upgrade the kernel from 2.0.18 via kernel patches to 2.0.28, I get a compile error that I have been unable to correct.
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/kernel' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strength-reduce -pipe -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o time.o time.c {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:768: Error: no such 386 instruction: `rdmsr' {standard input}:770: Error: no such 386 instruction: `wrmsr' make[1]: *** [time.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/kernel' make: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2
Advice, suggestions, flames?
Thanks
