So we block these commands through the kernel API ...
... so I will just open /dev/mem and in/outb() bit-bang the controller directly ...
... what have we gained then?
We can protect against badly written program which sends these commands by accident, but claiming it will protect against bad things by malicious root program is just an illusion...
