strange. starting konqueror over my (6Mbit) ADSL Line takes 5 seconds. ping times to server are 40ms. Of course it's cached on the remote machine. Localy it takes 2 seconds.

No idea what's going on at your machine, but 2.15 minutes for firefox seems to be seriously broken.
