Don't use "idebus=66". It's wrong. If you want to force UDMA66/UDMA100, the correct option is ide0=ata66. If you want to use idebus=, you should use idebus=33, because that's what your PCI bus most likely operates at.
Also "hdc=ignore" doesn't work either.

What does the 'puking' exactly do?

The VIA chipsets are not easy to set up and the margins for error are too thin.
