On a Kiwi OpenNote 680T, the system freezes solid when loading pcmcia modules. It has a pci-to-pcmcia controller (omega micro). Cardbus was not compiled. i<whatever> controller (I don't remember the 5 numbers) worked in 2.3.31. I have not tried having pcmcia support in the kernel.
This laptop has the worst hardware inside that I've ever used.
