| |
1-One-line summary of the problem:
a fat32 partition cannot be mounted.
2-Full description of the problem:
I'm currently using a Debian Linux with kernel 2.2.14 and recently bought a 18Go ide hard disk. I then created many partitions on that disk and especially a 13Go FAT32 partition. Under 98, I formatted this partition and wrote some data into it, to ensure everything was going well. This partition works perfectly well under 98.
But I've been unable to mount that partition under Linux. I've compiled the kernel with the good modules (as I can mount a FAT32 partition from another disk) but this big partition always seems to be a problem for the vfat module.
Here is the partition table:
Disk /dev/hdb: 16 heads, 63 sectors, 34960 cylinders Units = cylindres of 1008 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hdb1 1 21 10552+ 83 Linux /dev/hdb2 22 42 10584 83 Linux /dev/hdb3 43 63 10584 83 Linux /dev/hdb4 64 34960 17588088 5 Extended /dev/hdb5 64 2095 1024096+ 83 Linux /dev/hdb6 2096 4127 1024096+ 83 Linux /dev/hdb7 4128 6159 1024096+ 83 Linux /dev/hdb8 6160 34960 14515672+ c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
And here is the kernel message when i attempt to mount hdb8:
pbb22:~# mount /dev/hdb8 /mount/E -t vfat mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdb8, or too many mounted file systems
kernel console log is:
