Hello there!
System is a P233 with Adaptec 2940UWPro, , Intel eepro100, 128MB of RAM, with a standard Red Hat 6 installation.
I am new to kernel debugging, what is the easiest way to find the exact cause of this problem:
In the few hours since installation, I'm getting this:
Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: current->tss.cr3 = 07b76000, %cr3 = 07b76000 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba k<emanonWRk> Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: CPU: 0 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: EIP: 0010:[d_lookup+92/208] Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: EFLAGS: 00010217 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: eax: 00000138 ebx: ffffffe8 ecx: 64499272 edx: 00000254 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: esi: 00000000 edi: c3cf400c ebp: 00000000 esp: c7c67f44 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: Process crond (pid: 273, process nr: 11, stackpage=c7c67000) Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: Stack: c3cf400c 00000001 c022dc18 c3cf4005 64499272 00000007 c012afd4 c0faf4e0 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: c7c67f88 c7c67f88 c012b20e c0faf4e0 c7c67f88 c3cf4000 c3cf4000 0804bed2 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: bffff880 c3cf4005 00000007 64499272 c012b314 c3cf4000 c0faf4e0 00000001 Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: Call Trace: [cached_lookup+16/76] [lookup_dentry+274/496] [__namei+40/88] [sys_newstat+14/96] [system_call+52/56] Aug 25 03:15:42 jabba kernel: Code: 8b 6d 00 8b 4c 24 18 39 4b 48 75 54 8b 4c 24 24 39 4b 0c 75
It has happened twice since the installation; I swapped out the nic & scsi card and it happened again...
Thanks in advance, Mark Lehrer
