In my opinion, people have had problems to disconnect from inb, inw and
inl names commonly used in the past. ;)

Indeed write8, write16, write32 (write64), read8, etc... will be far
better names and can be added immediately, with the old confusing stuff
defined for compatibility.

(Note that I would prefer names like mmio_write32()).
