PROBLEM: Freeze due to video card
[1.] One line summary of the problem: Complete freeze of linux due to new video card.
[2.] Full description of the problem/report: I recently changed from an ATI Mach 64 to an ATI Rage 128.
As of this change, whenever I do an Alt-left or Alt-right to change the console, the systems freezes completely.
The lock also happens if I try startx with any of the VGA16 / SVGA / FBDev servers.
RedHat 6.0 install sometimes hangs in a text window while scrolling up/down.
No AltSysRq, no ping from other machines, no control-alt-del.
Note: if I do Alt-left, any key, Alt-Right the freeze doesn't happen.
No problems with the old card.
[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): video
[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version): Linux version 2.2.10 (root@mndscs00.minimal.pt) (gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #3 Sat Jun 19 01:45:02 WEST 1999
Happens also with 2.2.5 and 2.2.9.
[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt) [6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if possible)
[7.] Environment RedHat 6.0 with Errata up to 20 June
