Subjectarp netmask is bad ?
Hello all,

I recently upgraded from 2.0.36 to 2.2.9.
I use net-tools 1.51 arp 1.85 (1999-01-05)

First I do
[root@sonny]# echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/all/proxy_arp

When I try
[root@sonny]# arp -i eth1 -Ds 1.1.1.252 eth1 netmask 255.255.255.252 pub

I get
SIOCSARP: Invalid argument
[root@sonny]#

But this works:
[root@sonny]# arp -i eth1 -Ds 1.1.1.252 eth1 netmask 255.255.255.255 pub
[root@sonny]#

Any ideas why ?
It is working on 2.0.36.

Thanks, Nir.
