| |
[1.] One line summary of the problem:
On i686 machine kernel 2.2.2 can't mount Fujitsu MO 640. 2.2.0-beta7 and 2.0.36 can.
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
I'm using a Fujitsu MO 640 with 2048'er sectors. It works with kernel 2.0.36 (from my DLD distribution) and 2.2.0-beta7 (self-compiled). If I try to mount it under 2.2.2 (on the same system, same everything), I get the message:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, or too many mounted file systems
The same message I got when trying to mount the drive with 2.0.35. Interestingly, fdisk -l shows the same data on 2.2.2 and 2.2.0-beta7:
Disk /dev/sda: 64 heads, 32 sectors, 606 cylinders Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 1 606 620528 83 Linux native
Unfortunately, I deleted the 2.2.0-beta7-sources, so I can't tell you whether I compiled the kernels differently. But, anyway, I cannot remember an option regarding to sector size on SCSI devices.
