It's possible that your motherboard doesn't support the E801 memory size call. If you're feeling brave, you can try the memory detection patch I posted here over the weekend (broken for 2.2.1, alas, though I think it's correct now) and have at http://www.pell.chi.il.us/~orc/Memory/) and see if that makes things work again for you.
