My syslog contains lines like
Feb 12 11:23:05 michael kernel: EXT2-fs error (device 16:41): ext2_check_inodes_ bitmap: Wrong free inodes count in group 75, stored = 1786, counted = 1785 Feb 12 11:23:05 michael kernel: EXT2-fs error (device 16:41): ext2_check_inodes_ bitmap: Wrong free inodes count in group 76, stored = 1786, counted = 1785 Feb 12 11:23:05 michael kernel: EXT2-fs error (device 16:41): ext2_check_inodes_ bitmap: Wrong free inodes count in group 83, stored = 1786, counted = 1785 Feb 12 11:23:05 michael kernel: EXT2-fs error (device 16:41): ext2_check_inodes_ bitmap: Wrong free inodes count in group 85, stored = 1786, counted = 1785 Feb 12 11:23:05 michael kernel: EXT2-fs error (device 16:41): ext2_check_inodes_ bitmap: Wrong free inodes count in group 97, stored = 1849, counted = 1788
The errors usually appear while mounting the filesystem. The hard-disk seems to be OK, does anybody know if there is a bug in the kernel which can corrupt the filesystem. On that harddisk I run a Proxy-Server which manages many many (sure more than 1000) files and directories. I tried more than one harddisk and the problem appears when the Proxy-Cache grows. Maybe this can be a hint to a hidden bug which doesn't appear often or affects only large directory-trees.
Greetings, Michael
