Hi,
I'm seeing strange inter-module dependencies with 2.3.31 (and some previous versions). For instance, I've just loaded many modules, and /proc/modules contains:
slip 10572 0 (unused) bsd_comp 4912 0 (unused) ppp_deflate 45872 0 (unused) ppp_async 9872 0 (unused) ppp_generic 14940 0 [bsd_comp ppp_deflate ppp_async] uart401 7160 0 (unused) nwflash 4644 0 (unused) video-cyberpro 9984 0 (unused) saa7111 2696 1 i2c 4980 2 [video-cyberpro saa7111] tulip 37028 0 (unused) waveartist 14772 0 [slip bsd_comp ppp_deflate ppp_async ppp_generic uart401 nwflash video -cyberpro saa7111 i2c tulip] sound 71564 0 [uart401 waveartist] soundcore 3504 5 [sound]
I can guarantee that waveartist is not depended on by bsd_comp, ppp_deflate, uart401, nwflash, video-cyberpro, or any of the others, but insmod/the kernel believes that it is.
Versions of various packages: modutils: 2.3.6 binutils: 2.9.5.0.16 gcc: 2.7.2.2 (good for ARM)
