SubjectOops in 2.3.22 while doing 'cat /dev/sndstat'

Hi.

I have a CS4236 card. It has to be initialized from msdos program, when
it is initialized I have 'Permission denied' (from root) while catting
/dev/sndstat, when it is not initialized I've got :

ksymoops 0.7c on i586 2.3.22. Options used
