Hi,
On my SMP machine pre8 hopelessly ties up the SCSI bus (resulting in command timeouts and not booting) when booted normally.
Booting with 'noapic', however, solves the trouble and the system boots up correctly.
Did something in the interrupt or APIC code break pre-8?
