I am running 2.2.0-pre8 on my Dell optiplex (PII), and I am experiencing trouble with pre8:
1. My zipdisk stopped working. Upon startup, I get
hda: Maxtor 83240D3, 3090MB w/256kB Cache, CHS=784/128/63, UDMA hdc: ATAPI 32X CDROM drive, 256kB Cache Uniform CDROM driver Revision: 2.52 hdd: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdd: packet command error: error=0x50 ATAPI device hdd: Error: Illegal request -- (Sense key=0x05) Invalid field in command packet -- (asc=0x24, ascq=0x00) The failed "Mode Sense" packet command was: "5a 00 2a 00 00 00 00 00 18 00 00 00 " hdd: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdd: packet command error: error=0x50 ATAPI device hdd: Error: Illegal request -- (Sense key=0x05) Invalid field in command packet -- (asc=0x24, ascq=0x00) The failed "Mode Sense" packet command was: "5a 00 2a 00 00 00 00 00 18 00 00 00 "
after that, I get
dokkum:~# cat /dev/zip cat: /dev/zip: Operation not supported by device dokkum:~# mount -t ext2 /dev/zip /mnt/mzip/ mount: /dev/zip has wrong major or minor number dokkum:~# ls -l /dev/zip lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Nov 16 16:01 /dev/zip -> hdd1
BTW, it would be nice if autofs would give more meaningful errormessages besides "filesystem needs repair, won't mount"
2. Some mysterious entry appeared in the logs
Jan 21 04:04:08 dokkum kernel: nfs_revalidate_inode: /// getattr failed, ino=2, error=-116 Jan 21 04:04:08 dokkum kernel: NFS: bad fh 1b0080000200000000000a00020000001279e 45100000a00020000001279e451 Jan 21 04:04:08 dokkum kernel: NFS: lookup failed, error=-116
