AFAIK, all of the developers have left the Freedows project
and are working on Alliance now. This will place Freedows
in the "total joke" category, but this doesn't mean that
Alliance should be filed in the same place!

In working with the Alliance team (yes, I'm helping them
set up the MM and scheduler specs) I've found them to be
very capable folks with a lot of skills.

It is going to be a somewhat new OS design though. This is
the reason why they only now have started coding (there's
not much sense in coding when you haven't decided on how
the various subsystems will communicate with eachother --
and what they should say).

I haven't looked into all of the design yet, but it looks
promising. They might a little help from us though -- we've
already gone through all the mistakes-that-can-happen and
we've all read it on linux-kernel ;)

The main Linux people should probably devote 10 minutes a
day to preventing the Alliance folks from making the same
mistakes they themselves made in the past.

As for Freedows, the 'project leader' has posted a notice
declaring that the project will work much better without
the hindrance of coders and that he will probably write
and design the OS all new from start or base it on FreeDOS.
So yes, Freedows (the original project) is a Total Joke(mt).

Rik.
