Since UDI isn't set in stone - perhaps its time various cluefull people look at it and make sane suggestions, otherwise we'll be stuck with whatever Sun/SCO/whoever think is right.
Also, since Linux probably has more machine deployed that the other unix-like OSs out there, we perhaps have some leverage on making this work `our way'. (Hey, it works for M$, can't hurt to try....)
In theory, Linux could drive the way UDI works and looks, assuming the other members aren't hostile towards Linux.
