I'm trying to move to 2.1.116 from a 2.0.34 RedHat 5.1/Intel install. I've updated all the software the instructions mention to versions at least as recent as the docs request. Everything seems to build (using egcs 1.0.3a) and run fine but my XWindows won't operate. I get the beginnings of X with my cursor visible and moving but the window manager never starts. When I switch to the text screen the following error msgs keep scrolling by:
_X11TransSocketOpen: socket() failed for local _X11TransSocketOpenCOTSClient: unable to open socket for local _X11TransOpen: transport open failed for local/vai.switchco.com:0
My networking is running just fine so I'm not at all certain what the issue is. Any ideas?
thanx & later,
