Since upgrading from 2.1.106 to 2.1.108, I get several of these error messages a day in syslog:
sendmail[2062]: QAA02061: SYSERR(root): mailer prog died with signal 13
I've recompiled sendmail (8.8.8, 8.9.0, and 8.9.1), it still does it. I am running procmail v3.11pre7, and it seems to happen when sendmail is passing the message off to procmail. I have recompiled procmail too, without effect.
I wouldn't normally think of this as a kernel issue, but if I drop back to 2.1.106, the errors stop... which makes me suspect something in the kernel.
This doesn't happen on every message, just 3 or 4 a day (and I get several hundred a day due to the mailing lists I'm on). I'm puzzled. Signal 13 seems to be a SIGPIPE, looks like a pipe is being closed before the message finishes getting handed off from sendmail to procmail. But I'm damned if I know how to fix it.
