Linus,
My SMP machine has the following patches installed:
ext2_trunc105-patch mmap_105-patch nfsd_105-patch
It does __not__ oops when mounting a SCSI CDROM. Also I can tar every file from the CROM without any problems.
/dev/root / ext2 rw 0 0 /dev/sda3 /home/users ext2 rw 0 0 /dev/sdb1 /home/hpbd ext2 rw 0 0 /dev/sdc1 /home/disk3 ext2 rw 0 0 /dev/sdc3 /usr/src ext2 rw 0 0 none /proc proc rw 0 0 /dev/cdrom /mnt iso9660 ro 0 0
It uses a BusLogic BT-958 Controller.
I have recompiled the kernel on my other SMP machine with debugging turned on. This kernel does not have the patches. This machine is an important name-server so I can't muck with it right now. Tonight I will boot the recompiled kernel and attempt to get an oops.
Cheers, Dick Johnson ***** FILE SYSTEM MODIFIED ***** Penguin : Linux version 2.1.105 on an i586 machine (66.15 BogoMips). Warning : It's hard to remain at the trailing edge of technology.
