I was about to suggest the same thing... I've been having serious heat
problems with my K6-233's. Right now, one of my machines was crashing
under "normal" conditions under Win98 (wouldn't boot up once it warmed
up) but strangely was relatively stable under Linux for about an hour
or so. I'd imagine crashme under linux would probably lock it up in
less than 5 minutes.

Right now, I have a 3'x1'x6" window-fan sitting atop my open case laying
horizontal under my desk (and boy, the ambient temperature in my room has
gone up good 10F). But, the increased CFM airflow has kept my K6-233
quite stable. So, I think its time I started buying extra case-fans and
drilling holes in my cases and mounting them...

If you're seeing problems with K6's crashing under heavy load, you really
aught to take measurements of (1) CPU temperature, (2) ambient temperature
within the case, and possibly (3) ambient room temperature.

Now I'm who I want to be, where I want to be, doing what I've always said I
would and yet I feel I haven't won at all... (Aug 9, 95: Goodbye, JG.)
