| |
Hi, On caveat of a friend I decided not to try 2.1.102, but the 2.1.101 + 2.1.102-pre-2 patch. I have had a PnP sound card installed in my computer for ages, but have not bothered to set it up--now I have been toying with isapnp, and pnpdump along with a little reading of isapnp.conf, I have configured my sound card. The response to IDENTIFY * says: Board 1 has Identity 27 ff ff ff ff 68 18 73 16: ESS1868 Serial No 4294967295 [checksum 27] I originally compiled 2.1.101 with sound and SB and MIDI and all that jaz built into the kernel, but now I realized what PnP means (duh :)) I am running on a 486, no PnP BIOS. HP Vectra 486 DX/33 While loading the modules, sb.o reports: init_module: Device or resource busy
This is my little script for loading the sound modules (at the shell prompt; the PnP devices are configured by /etc/rc.d/rc.kernel/rc.pnp during startup) insmod sound insmod uart401 insmod sb io=0x0220 irq=5 dma=0 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x0330 insmod opl3 io=0x0388 insmod v_midi
This is the /etc/isapnp.conf configuration for my sound card: (ISOLATE) (IDENTIFY *) (CONFIGURE ESS1868/-1 (LD 0 (IO 0 (BASE 0x0220)) (IO 1 (BASE 0x0330)) (IO 2 (BASE 0x0388)) (DMA 0 (CHANNEL 0)) (DMA 1 (CHANNEL 5)) (INT 0 (IRQ 5 (MODE +E))) (ACT Y) ))
Can anyone offer assistance?
Also, my 28.8kbps modem appears broken--I can send AT commands, but when it connects, most of the data flowing through the line is lost. This does not occur in 2.1.101 (which I am running now)
Help is much appreciated! :) (__===================================__) "Technology as nature, science truth for life..." "In fortran tongue, the answer, science truth for life..." "Any modern man can see That religion is obsolete..." "Any modern man can see Revelation obsolete..." --10,000 Maniacs
