I have suggested to scoop@freshmeat that he set up a commenting scheme for patch releases, and I think this will happen; I plan on moving my non-urgent comments there to avoid clutter on this list.
In the meantime, for the purposes of release engineering, I note a possible problem apparently involving one or more of the advanced routing options in combination with the httpd-cern proxy server. When I switched as220.org (PPro/PCI/IDE) from 2.1.96 to 2.1.99, the proxy server malfunctioned until I switched off all the advanced routing options except the logging. as220.org is a heavily-used machine, so I couldn't fool around too much to pinpoint it. But it does appear that something might have occured between 96 and 99 that caused one of these options to break http-cern. I could do more work to pinpoint this if needed.
Other than that, 2.1.99 is running fine on the cafe freebox (486/VL/IDE), as220.org and my k5/PCI/IDE box here.
