cdrecord ( http://www.fokus.gmd.de/nthp/employees/schilling/cdrecord.html ) supports most CD-R drives, including the CR-2401-TS, CR-2600-TE, and all SCSI-3/mmc compliant drives.
The CR-2801-TE is listed under "List of models reported to work."
