Hi,
I thought this was a kernel related problem:
We use a lot of big datafiles, and normally they are compressed. The problem is that not all programs we use are able to coop with compressed files: so we have to either rewrite the program; which is not always possible, or decompress the file, which demands huge amounts of diskspace (a lot of our data files are ascii), and costing a lot of extra time.
The question is: is it possible to write a module which automatically (de)compresses certain files, or did someone already wrote a solution to that problem?
Alex
