The problem with the MWave is not that it is PnP. It contains
a DSP and the device driver needs to load some code that runs
on that DSP.
AFAIK, IBM has not released any specs on how that could be done.

Some people have reported success when they boot to dos
(or win95) and then warm-boot (using ldlinux) into linux.
After that, you should be able to use the card as a sound-blaster.
