Greetings fellow Linux people. I currently am running Linux 2.1.88 and am having no problems except for sound. My soundcard is not fully supported in the kernel and I'm afraid it's because of it's PnP origins.
I have an IBM MWAVE card that came with this computer. The IBM MWAVE has a modem, soundcard, and it looks like a WSS all on the same card. I had to purchease a new external modem because the damn PnP modem didn't work since it was a WinModem.
Using isapnptools, I've managed to get sound partially working. It seems that I can play 8bit sound (i.e. quake, wavplay on 8bit samples, etc) but 16bit samples just produce a nasty static. Is this because the sb.o module is using some limited SoundBlaster compatibility on the card or what?
I'd appreciate any suggestions anybody may have in getting this multifunctioned PnP card to work.
