Subject[Q] rdev no longer works??
[2.1.86, glibc, gcc 2.8 - no other problems]

In playing, I just noticed my rdev makes whatever zImage unbootable. The
version I have is from util-linux-2.7.1, dated around March, 1992 !
<eek!>.

Strangely enough, though, if I use rdev to examine a working zImage, it
displays the correct information (so therefore, the OFFSET is still
correct, .. right? )

But regardless of what function I use of rdev (video mode, read-only flag,
root device), it renders the image unbootable (stopping at "Linux
.....\n") [after the carriage return]

Has anyone seen this behavior before? And if so, any suggetions? Tia!
