I can't help you with debugging the crashes, but I do have a suggestion.
We have been experiencing similar problems on our production systems and
have found that replacing the 3c905 cards with Kingston KNE100TX cards and
using the de4x5 driver that comes with the 2.1.78 kernel (v0.533) that our
problems have been greatly reduced. The other thing you could try would
be to revert to the 0.47H version of the 3c59x driver. We found that that
version was more stable.
