On 2.1.131 vanilla "make xconfig" works cleanly. I've noticed it is
broken since at least around 2.1.131ac3.

[root@harmony linux.ac]# make xconfig
rm -f include/asm
( cd include ; ln -sf asm-i386 asm)
make -C scripts kconfig.tk

cat header.tk >> ./kconfig.tk
./tkparse < ../arch/i386/config.in >> kconfig.tk
echo "set defaults \"arch/i386/defconfig\"" >> kconfig.tk
echo "set ARCH \"i386\"" >> kconfig.tk
cat tail.tk >> kconfig.tk
chmod 755 kconfig.tk
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux.ac/scripts'
wish -f scripts/kconfig.tk

[root@harmony linux.ac]#

I've had a look at the relevant scripts/config stuff that your patch plays
with, but
can't see anything obvious being broken. :( Something wrong with my set-up?

(I'm not importing an old config file or anything like that, this is taking
as clean
an approach as possible).

Tris.
