tar complains 'Cowardly refusing to make empty archive' gz of course fails in the same way with: gz linux-2.1.78.tar.gz linux-2.1.78 I used this last on Dec. 10 then 'upgraded' to latest tar and patch compiled under 2.1.72. libc5.4.38 has not changed. I like the new patch, but beware that it does not default to making backups (*.orig) as the older version did. You have to use -b -V simple explicitly. Furthermore tar-1.12 will not compile under 2.0.33 or 2.1.78/9
Question: Does ide-proc.c have any functional purpose on a 486DX without PCI? Gadi's patch let me compile, but the total code did not reveal to me any purpose for a non PCI machine. -- Garst
