I do not think so. smbfs will be a LOT simpler with the dcache stuff. It's a rather complete rewrite. But for NFS exports you need inode numbers that are persistent over the complete life time of the file system. Even the dcache scheme can not guarantee this. The only way would be to never throw away dcache entries and use the adress of the dcache as the inode number.
