Hi,
I've got error messages "VFS: Freeing free inode, tell DaveM", when I did the following:
cd /dosd tar xvfz linux-2.1.42.tar.gz
/dosd is a vfat partition, which had not enough room to store all the contents of the tar.gz archive. Then the free space exceeded, I began to get these error messages (with the other ones, -- from tar, not being able to create files).
Also, I'd like to know the *reason* of `broken pipe' errors, which appear from time to time:
# gzip -tv linux-2.1.42.tar.gz linux-2.1.42.tar.gz: OK # gzip -dc linux-2.1.42.tar.gz | tar xf - broken pipe
All files are extracted without looses, but the annoying error `broken pipe' for some strange reason appear.
-- With best regards, Vladimir.
