SubjectLag in 2.0.27?
I have been having problems running CPU-intensive applications under
2.0.27. The application in question (xf86quake) will run normally, but
every once in a while (every ten minutes or so) I will get a few seconds
where the screen updates and general responsiveness basically vanish,
and then return to normal a bit later (5 to 15 seconds later usually).
This only happened when I upgraded from my 2.0.24 kernel under Red Hat
4.0 to 2.0.27 (which came with RedHat 4.1). Another machine exhibits
similar performance problems also using 2.0.27/Red Hat 4.1 and I was
wondering if it might be a kernel bug? I seem to recall there being
some performance problems with 2.0.x and I was wondering if this might
be it. Or is it something else wrong? I doubt it is a hardware problem
since both computers exhibit this behavior.
