I don't know for sure that this is a kernel problem:
Since upgrading to kernel versions 2.0.[0-8] I have had a problem with tty1 only:
After logging onto tty1 as user or root, that terminal starts loosing keystrokes and/or data bytes, and response time becomes very slow. While having this problem on tty1, I can use tty[2-6] or my Wyse 50 @ 38400on ttyS1 with no lost bytes, and no unusual slowness.
Using up/down arrows to navigate through files in mc-3.2.1 will occasionally beep and print "[B" or "[A" showing that either bytes are lost or bits are being (re)set randomly.
If it makes any difference I am using agetty on all lines tty[1-6] && ttyS1, libc-5.4.2.
Anybody else with this problem, or a solution?
TIA
