Subjecttroubles with 1.3.88 and laptop Thinkpad 340
Hi,

I just upgraded from 1.3.85 to 1.3.88 and still suffer from small bugs
with the following harware:

IBM ThinkPad 340 (486SLC2/50 by IBM) 12Mo ram, 540 Mo HD,
EtherlinkIII pcmcia

gcc 2.7.2, libc5.2.18, ldso1.7.14, gpm 1.00, modules 1.3.69f
pcmcia-cs-2.8.10, procps-0.99a

- this laptop has only an APM 1.0 support. When I enable APM
support in the kernel, at boot time I got:

PS/2 auxilliary pointing device detected -- driver installed
APM BIOS 1.0 flag 0x03 (driver version 1.0)
f923: 0 cseg16 f000 dseg 9fc0
ac on line, battery high, battery life unknown
.
.
.
apm_bios: get_event: unknown error code 0x53
.
.

then whenever I move the mouse (PS/2 style with gpm 1.00
and gpm 1.06), I got on the console:

apm_bios: set display ready: unrecognized device ID

'more /proc/apm' give

1.0 1.0 0x03 0x01 0x00 0xff -1% -1 ?

- as any laptop I got an 'Fn' key and usually 'Fn' + 'F9'
toggle the highlight of the screen in CHARACTERS mode.
Under 1.2.13 and until 1.3.6x it works. But since 1.3.7x
(where a change in console appear), it only work ONE time
, after I change the VC it never work again :(.

- Just a remark, somewhere in 1.3.6x 'make dep' started to
use gawk. But the NUMERIC type for gawk is DOUBLE !
And whitout coprocessor, now it took me one hour to do the
'make dep' phase instead of 5 minutes.
