i seem to remember this one being answered at some point a while ago, but i don't really recall, so i'll ask again - exactly what does the message "FAT cache corruption" mean? it only happens under UMSDOS, and it happens every 10 minutes (i mean exactly 10 minutes, too), and it's getting annoying. a reboot seems to keep it from occuring for maybe the first hour or so that it's up, but then it starts giving the message again.
also, it behaves strangely with syslogd. it logs the message "FAT cache corruption" and then logs about 50 more lines of info, which happen to be the last 50 lines that syslogd processed. this is with kernel 1.3.70, libc-5.3.5 on an otherwise vanilla Slackware 3.0.
