SubjectProblem with XFree 3.1.2 and 1.3.76-1.3.80
Date
Hi all!

I'm having a problem with the latest kernels. I have a slackware 3.0 system
on which I installed 1.3.76. I found that I can't start my X server anymore
using xdm and chooser. X starts for a second and terminates with signal 11
before displaying the chooser window. I used to start X (XFree 3.1.2) with

/usr/X11R6/bin/xdm
exec /usr/X11R6/bin/X -indirect `/bin/hostname -f` > /var/adm/Xserver.out 2>
/var/adm/Xserver.err

in my /etc/rc.d/rc.4. This procedure worked with 1.3.46 (which was running on
this system without problems).

Funny thing is that I can start X with startx or X -query hostname.

I then grabbed the new gcc-2.7.2, libc-5.2.18 and binutils-2.6.0.10 and tried
1.3.76 ... 1.3.80. -> No change!
Does anybody have an idea what is wrong here?

Thanx for any help

Andreas
