So after digging around a bit, it turns out the pm_idle is NULL. For some reason it is not getting set to default_idle if nothing works. I am not sure of the path being followed, and its a bit late for me to be trying anything serious :).
This seems to work as a temporary workaround, but obviously is not the right fix yet.
