Hello,
To compile 2.3.49-pre1 i had to do the folowing:
sjoerd:/usr/src/linux # diff -u ./arch/i386/kernel/traps.c~ ./arch/i386/kernel/traps.c --- ./arch/i386/kernel/traps.c~ Sun Feb 27 08:46:54 2000 +++ ./arch/i386/kernel/traps.c Mon Feb 28 09:04:45 2000 @@ -33,6 +33,7 @@ #include <asm/atomic.h> #include <asm/debugreg.h> #include <asm/desc.h> +#include <asm/hardirq.h>
#include <asm/smp.h> #include <asm/pgalloc.h>
and
sjoerd:/usr/src/linux # diff -u ./arch/i386/kernel/io_apic.c~ ./arch/i386/kernel/io_apic.c --- ./arch/i386/kernel/io_apic.c~ Mon Feb 28 10:31:37 2000 +++ ./arch/i386/kernel/io_apic.c Mon Feb 28 09:22:05 2000 @@ -27,6 +27,7 @@ #include <asm/io.h> #include <asm/smp.h> #include <asm/desc.h> +#include <asm/hardirq.h>
static spinlock_t ioapic_lock = SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED;
I just updated packages from suse6.3 -> suse-cebit2000 (evaluation) version (gcc, and anything), and now i notice a warning just before finishing 'make bzImage':
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -DCPU=586 -traditional -c head.S /tmp/ccq6xMka.s: Assembler messages: /tmp/ccq6xMka.s:115: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix /tmp/ccq6xMka.s:116: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix /tmp/ccq6xMka.s:117: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix /tmp/ccq6xMka.s:118: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix
I'm not sure that is harmless.
sjoerd:~ # gcc -v Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-suse-linux/2.95.2/specs gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
sjoerd:/usr/src/linux # as -v GNU assembler version 2.9.5 (i386-suse-linux) using BFD version 2.9.5.0.24
btw initrd works again!
Greatings,
