Subject2.2.11 locks hard (compiled with gcc 2.95 and 2.7.2.3)
I came back to my machine after a few hours out and found xscreensaver
still displaying but not moving. The machine did not respond to mouse
movement, key press, ctrl-alt-backspace, switching consoles, or any
attempt to telnet/ssh in (connection refused). No magic sysrq. The
only solution was to reboot by cycling.

I recompiled 2.2.11 with gcc 2.7.2.3, knowing I'd be yelled at for
using 2.95. :-)

That kernel lasted a little over a day, and then pulled the same stunt
on me.

This is a machine that ran 2.2.10 for about 50 days until an accident
in /dev forced a reboot, without any problem.

Obviously, I can't get you an oops or anything since I don't know what
happened. The log shows no indication of anything going wrong.

Short summary of hardware:

Tyan Thunder motherboard, Dual PII 300, 128M, scsi hard disk.

I'll attach the .config for the 2.2.11 compiles.

Please CC any replies to me as I'm not subscribed.

I hope this has been useful, apologies because it's not as specific a
report as I'd like. If you need any more information just tell me.

Also I apologize for the somewhat rambling nature of the message; I'm
somewhat tired.
