Hi,
There is a bug between kernel and hdparm. hdparm can change the setting on an IDE device. For example,
# hdparm -d1 -X 18 /dev/hda
will change the DMA mode on /dev/hda. However, the change is not updated in the kernel data structure for hda. As the result,
# hdparm -i /dev/hda # hdparm -d1 -X 18 /dev/hda # hdparm -i /dev/hda
will not show the DMA mode change on /dev/hda.
