Hi! I have a PC running happily 2.0.36. I tried 2.2.0, it compiled fine, but I can not connect to my network any longer. I have upgraded to net-tools 1.49.
On 2.2.0 I can not reach anybody outside the network, while on 2.0.36 (with exactly the same init - simply rebooting into a different kernel) everything works fine.
I have no clue where to look. Did something obvious change in the network/routing initialisation?
One clue I got: 2.0.36 /proc/net/route gives
Iface Destination Gateway Flags RefCnt Use Metric Mask MTU Window IRTT
eth0 0085BC83 00000000 01 0 1 0 00FFFFFF 1500 0 0 lo 0000007F 00000000 01 0 1 0 000000FF 3584 0 0 eth0 00000000 0185BC83 03 0 1 1 00000000 1500 0 0
which looks reasonable to me (what do I know?), while 2.2.0 /proc/net/route gives Iface Destination Gateway Flags RefCnt Use Metric Mask MTU Window IRTT dummy0 0585BC83 00000000 0005 0 0 0 FFFFFFFF 0 0 0 eth0 0085BC83 00000000 0001 0 0 0 00FFFFFF 0 0 0 dummy0 0000BC83 00000000 0001 0 0 0 0000FFFF 0 0 0 eth0 00000000 0185BC83 0003 0 0 1 00000000 0 0 0 Paper bag time? What manual to read? This machine is an old, heavily patched SuSE 4.4, so some prehistoric setup things might bite now.
